As the AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality) industry continues to evolve, creators are increasingly expected to build interactive and immersive experiences rather than static content. Recognizing this shift, the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) recently conducted a hands-on workshop with Zimension3D for its UG Diploma Batch 02 students, bringing together learners from Gaming, Animation, VFX, Film Design, and Comics-related disciplines.
More than a software training session, the workshop focused on helping students transform ideas, stories, and creative concepts into interactive experiences that audiences can actively engage with.
Led by Mr. Zeeshan, Founder & CEO of Zimension3D, students were introduced to a browser-based no-code platform that enables creators to build interactive 3D environments for PC, Mobile, and XR devices without requiring programming expertise.
During the workshop, students explored:
Interactive Storytelling
Environment & World Building
Experience Design
User Engagement Principles
Rapid Prototyping
Browser-Based Content Creation
XR-Ready Workflows
Students then applied these concepts by creating their own interactive experiences within the platform under the guidance of the Zimension3D team and IICT faculty members.
One of the key highlights of the session was the interdisciplinary collaboration among students from Gaming, Animation, VFX, Film Design, and Storytelling backgrounds. While gaming students focused on interaction systems and level design, animation and film students explored visual storytelling and cinematic experiences, demonstrating how different creative disciplines can come together to build immersive content.
At IICT, the focus is not simply on teaching software tools. The institute follows a learning philosophy centered around Learn, Practice, Develop, and Compete, encouraging students to experiment, build, refine, and showcase their ideas through real-world projects and innovation challenges.
The workshop also provided students with exposure to entrepreneurship and product innovation. Zimension3D, a Made-in-India browser-based experience creation platform, is part of the IICT WaveX ecosystem, giving students a unique opportunity to interact directly with an emerging technology startup and understand the journey of building products for global audiences.
Reflecting on the experience, students appreciated the platform's accessibility, ease of use, and potential for rapid prototyping, while also recognizing its value for storytelling, environment creation, and concept visualization.
As interactive media, virtual worlds, simulation systems, and XR technologies continue to gain importance across industries, initiatives like these help prepare students for the future of creative technology.
